Did you notice the date, yesterday? 11/1/11. Ooooo, I think that’s magic. I meant to make a wish at 11:11 and also at 1:11, but dang it, I forgot both times. REALLY! I have the short-term memory of a toaster. That’s right, none at all. All I had to do was pause for two minutes, watch the clock and make a wish and both times the thought just blew out of my head and I was on my merry way until– D’OAH! I forgot!
I’ll never get my pony.
Naw, I’m just kidding. I really only wanted a little bit of luck, a little added -oomph!- to this month, ’cause it is going to be a humdinger! Mostly because of this email I got from my sister;
“ So, the marathon is in early October, right? You’ll be so bored after that. How about something new for November? Mwahahahahah.
That’s right, it’s National Novel Writing Month. Crap. I think it was the “Mwahahahahah.” that got me. She knew darn well I am powerless to resist such a challenge. On the one hand, her skillful manipulation warms my heart, because it shows that she really gets me. On the other hand, it would be nice if she would use that power for good.
Still, you know how the clammy-palmed panic of a seemingly impossible challenge inspires me to action. Not only am I going to write a book, my friends, I’m going to keep up this blog, lose 10 lbs, usher in the holidays with a bang and rustle up a whole heap of new business for the shop.
…or maybe I could settle down for one minute and take it one momentous task at a time. How about if I say that if I finish the book, nothing has burned down and I haven’t set the children out of the house we go ahead and call this month a success?
Yeah, that sounds about right.
It's really fantastic that you are participating! I'm rooting for you. It will be worth the suffering and angst.
The power of siblings is really amazing, isn't it.
